Join the annual YMCA North London’s One Mile Children’s Fun Run on Sunday 20th May 2018, an event organised by YMCA North London, in Priory Park, N8.

For the 2017 event, over 40 children from one North London school trained three times each week for the event, and more will be welcome to run again his year!

Last year, the Eden Mighty Milers’ – children aged between 6 and 10 years old from Eden Primary School in Muswell Hill – jogged or ran for 15 minutes before lessons started, three mornings a week. Perfect preparation for the annual one mile Children’s Fun Run, that each year attracts over 2,000 children aged 3 to 15 across London.

Keren Querfurth, who manages the running club at the school “ The North London Fun Run was our running goal for the summer term. We had over 40 children running, most of whom previously didn’t have a running background. So getting involved in a race was new to the parents and there wasn’t one there who wasn’t filled with pride at seeing their child complete their mile.

We were so impressed with the organisation, flow and spirit of the the children’s races. That you divided the races by age and gender gave the children equal chances. As a parent, it filled me with pride to see the raised self-esteem that both my children came home with.  Our school running club exists to raise the physical and mental wellbeing of the children and your event contributed to that. Heartfelt thanks from us all for putting on a wonderful family day with such great community spirit.”

Fran Johnson, YMCA North London Fun Run Race Director “We are always delighted to see so many children taking part on the day, and it’s wonderful to see how much they enjoy themselves. We aim every year to encourage health and well being throughout the community. You can see that many of the children train hard for their race and they can be proud of that.”

Eden Primary Head Teacher, Jo Sassienie “We are passionate about the Eden Mighty Milers’ –  we’re giving the children the opportunity to enjoy running, an activity that only needs a pair of trainers.  Knowing that they can run makes them feel mentally as well as physically strong. After each training session they are buzzing and energised, and YMCA North London’s one mile race was our goal. The YMCA North London are giving those that participate a gift for life.”

The YMCA North London’s Fun Run & Festival is one of the largest and best-loved community events in North London. All children and young people up to Year 10 can run with their friends in one of the eight children’s 1 mile fun runs, which are contained completely within Priory Park. The races are grouped according to school years, with a maximum of 240 children per race.

Children‘s races start at 12pm. To enter the children’s races, and for more information about Adult 10k please visit: https://ymcalondoncan.org/ymca-north-london-fun-run-festival/
